A soft zephyr gently waves the reeds in a swaying motion as the sky with the setting sun portrays the absolute beauty of the land. I wonder to myself the level of understanding and erudition to incorporate the magnificent structures of the ancient world with the environment. Swarnamali Seya is important in the sense of its deep roots to Buddhism in Sri Lanka, but to me it's always been a question in mind of how such a super structure could be built in a primitive time without the technologies we have at our disposal nowadays. It’s imposing beauty stuns, but the Maha Seya’s ability to meld and contrast with its environment pushes the boundaries of one’s ability to understand and explain in words, and nor will I try to describe this beauty, I’d rather let you experience the feelings that serenade through this journey of emotions within this painting.
